Remembering the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Remember the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during a memorial event next week.

Project Peacemakers and Peace Alliance Winnipeg will sponsor Lanterns for Peace, a memorial event on Aug. 6 from 8 p.m. to dusk at the Memorial Park fountains in Memorial Park (Broadway across from the Legislative buildings).

The event recalls the dropping of the first two atomic bombs by the United States on the two Japanese cities, on Aug. 6, 1945 which ended the Second World War and killed thousands.

Participants are asked to come early and make lanterns.
