Baseball bat used to beat man
A man was savagely beaten with a baseball bat over the weekend while he slept in his River Avenue home.
The incident occurred in the 200 block of River Avenue at about 8 p.m. Saturday and he was allegedly attacked by a 28-year-old female acquaintance that was staying with him.
He was beaten unconscious and when he came to the following day, he was able to contact police and was taken to hospital suffering from multiple injuries.
The Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit has arrested Charlotte Boubard of no fixed address.
Boubard has been charged with attempted murder.
Man charged with kidnapping and a slew of robberies
A man has been charged with a spate of robberies of Domo gas stations and on four occasions he tried to kidnap the employees, succeeding three times before dropping them off a short distance away.
Between Dec. 22 and Jan. 11, it is alleged the suspect robbed six service stations, sometimes hitting the same gas station twice.
On Jan. 12 police arrested a man with the aid of dogs without incident.
Anthony Shane Monias, aged 21 with no fixed address, has been charged with 11 counts of robbery with a weapon, four counts of kidnapping, three counts of disguise with intent, possession of goods obtained by crime over $5,000, theft over $5,000 and utter threats.
Victim knew her assailant
A woman that accepted a lift from an acquaintance wound up the victim of a serious sexual assault on Jan. 10.
She was picked at 2 a.m. when she was walking in the area of Ellice Avenue and Home Street.
The man then invited her into his apartment block where it is alleged he forced her into the main floor laundry room and assaulted her.
The victim then escaped and fled the area.
The suspect is then alleged to have attempted to drive around the area in an attempt to locate the victim.
Police stopped a man for traffic violations, which led to his arrest on unrelated matters.
Kevin Obiero, aged 21, of Winnipeg has been charged with a variety of sexual-related charges.
Sexual assault suspect on loose
Police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding a man behind an attempted sexual assault on the Corydon strip.
On Jan. 13, shortly after 2 a.m., an 18-year-old female was approached by a lone male in the area of Corydon Avenue and Beaverbrook Street.
The male ran up behind the victim and grabbed her from behind in an attempt to sexually assault her but she managed to get away.
The suspect is described as 17 to 19 years of age, five-foot-10-inches to five-foot-11-inches, medium-build, clean shaven with a buzz cut hairstyle, glasses, and was wearing a black jacket with brown fur trim on the hood and light-coloured blue jeans.

Caretaker break-ins
A caretaker in the 600 block of Scotland Avenue has been charged with a series of break-ins where personal items and liquor were stolen.
Between Dec. 25 and Jan. 9, an apartment in the block was broken into a number of times and personal items were stolen from the resident.
A second apartment in the block was broken into on Jan. 9 and liquor was stolen.
Denis Blaine Bibeau, aged 59, was arrested by Division 16 detectives in connection with the break-ins.
Police allege a pass-key was used to enter the apartments.
Bibeau has been charged with five counts of break and enter and was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
