Veteran city cop charged with assault

A 14-year veteran Winnipeg police officer has been charged with assault causing bodily harm following a lengthy investigation.

Const. Keith Zoroneck was charged last week after an investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service professional standards unit.

The results of that investigation were submitted to the Department of Justice for a Crown opinion.

The alleged incident took place Oct. 9, 2006, and involves the arrest and detention of a resident of Transcona.

Zoroneck was released on a promise to appear in court. His employment status is under review.
