Three-vehicle collision in Headingley

Driver of vehicle disappeared without leaving name, info

Police continue to investigate a three-vehicle collision that took place on Highway 1 near the John Blumberg Golf Course Nov. 29.

According to Sgt. Mike Gibbs of the Headingley RCMP detachment, the driver of one of the vehicles reportedly stopped at the scene but left without giving any information to investigators at the scene.

“A westbound semi changed lanes, colliding with a westbound car,” said Gibbs.

“The car spun across the road into the eastbound lane and was hit by an eastbound semi.”

The driver of the semi involved in the initial collision is the one who police believe disappeared from the scene.

The driver of the car, 17, was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.

The RCMP encourages anyone with information about this continuing investigation to contact Headingley RCMP or any police department.

Video games, electronics stolen

Police are still investigating a residential break and enter near Oak Bluff. The incident, which occurred Nov. 27, involved culprits gaining access to the home through the back door. Electronics and video games have been reported stolen.

Domestic dispute in Elie

An Elie man was arrested, charged and remanded into custody after police responded to a domestic violence complaint.

Fake tender

A Headingley business reported receiving a counterfeit $10 bill Nov. 30 during a transaction with an unknown person.

School bus laws enforced

A complaint was made Dec. 1 of a van passing a stopped school bus on Lido Plage Road. Police are continuing to investigate, and remind motorists to use extra caution when passing a school bus, and to come to a complete stop when children are being loaded and unloaded – when lights are flashing.

Checkstops underway

‘Tis the season to watch your driving.

The RCMP in Headingley and throughout Manitoba are currently operating the Christmas Checkstop Program, which aims at detecting alcohol and substance-impaired drivers and seatbelt violators. The program runs until Jan. 2, 2007.
